1:1 appointments cost £60.
2:1 appointments (with a friend or partner) cost £80.
All appointments are 60-90 minutes long (see below).
Why are the appointments 60-90 minutes long?
The appointments are a flexible 60-90 minutes long in order to give us as much time as we need to tailor the exercises if necessary, explore how your body responds to TRE, answer your questions (there are usually lots!), and finish with a period of relaxation, which differs for each person.
What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable, non restrictive clothing such as loose trousers, leggings or jogging bottoms.
What happens during an appointment?
We’ll start with a chat about your health and wellbeing and what you would like to get from the session. I’ll explain what TRE is and how it works, and then I’ll guide you through a series of exercises which will gently stretch and tire the muscles which contract in response to stress. The final exercise involves lying down with the soles of your feet together in order to start the tremoring mechanism. This is where the magic happens! We’ll spend some time noticing the different reactions in your body, and we’ll practise stopping and starting the tremors, so that you know you are in complete control. Finally, we’ll finish with a period of relaxation in order for your body to integrate the effects of the session.
By the end of the session you will know…
- how to start the therapeutic tremors
- how to ‘self-regulate’ (i.e. pause, stop or slow the tremors)
- how to get the most from your sessions
- how to ‘integrate’ at the end of each session for greater benefit
What will I feel?
You might experience a mixture of things, from small vibrations and tremors to larger movements and ‘stretches’. You might also feel sensations such as heat or tingling. Most people find TRE to be relaxing and pleasurable (some even feel an urge to laugh or giggle!).
After a TRE session, people usually feel more grounded, calm and relaxed, but some people feel more alert and energetic. It differs for each person and each session.
What benefits can I expect?
TRE is much more than a simple stress-relief technique. It switches off the fight/flight/freeze response but it also wakes up parts of the body which are constricted or numb, leading us to literally feel more ‘whole’. It switches on our “social engagement system” too (ventral vagus nerve), which leads to less social anxiety and better relationships. Added bonus: this relaxed state is the ideal state for learning and creativity to occur!
Practising TRE regularly can affect you on many different levels:
- Less anxiety
- Clearer thinking
- Quieter mind
- More energy
- Better sleep
- Improved digestion
- Less muscle pain
- Increased flexibility
- Better relationships
- Greater creative expression
- Feeling more alive and ‘whole’
Deepen Your Practice sessions
Once you start practising TRE at home regularly you might notice that your practice goes through peaks and troughs and/or that your tremoring gets ‘stuck’ in a certain pattern. ‘Deepen your practice’ sessions are one-off sessions, which you can book whenever you need some additional help. During the session I can see how your tremors are developing, answer any questions you might have, discuss which shaking ‘dose’ is right for you, and show you how to invite the tremors into different parts of the body. We can also look at deepening your sense of safety and grounding, which are essential to healing and release in TRE.
