Flora Bowley’s art course is all about letting go – of expectations and preconceived ideas of what you can and cannot do.
It’s a lesson in POSSIBILITY in art and life and I can’t get enough it!
Over the last five weeks, my eyes have been opened to a different way of creating (trusting, letting things emerge naturally, being kind to myself, finding my authentic voice)…
Sadly, today is the last day of the course. But ‘sad’ is the wrong word to use really. It feels as if this is just the beginning.
I’ll gather my thoughts and write more in a later post but for now, I’m continuing to surprise myself by doing things I thought I wouldn’t or couldn’t do. (Bearing in mind the last time I did any serious art was during my Art O’Level a scary 30 years ago.)
I have one final layer of ‘frosting’ to add to one of my canvases (i.e. little details to finish it off). Here it is, hanging in my lounge, so I can look at it from time to time and figure out what needs to happen next:
And on Saturday I went for a walk and did a quick, wobbly sketch (standing up) of lovely Emsworth harbour…

Katherine. That painting of yours is supurb. Many congratulations. I really do love it. And it couldn’t look better hanging on your wall. You would think it was painted by a professional who’s been painting for years. Lovely little illustration of the harbour too. I know where to come if I ever need illustrations for any future book of mine x
