If you love books, fairy tales and magic (and if you don’t, what’s wrong with you?!), then you’ll love this.
Su Blackwell creates exquisite book-sculptures, like the one above and below. Her cut-out paper designs depict magical fairy-tale forests and houses. I’ve followed her work for a while now and it is truly stunning.

Here are some paper roses, which she created for ‘Myself’ magazine…
And check out this 50-second short stop-motion film which she created with animator Carmen Bromfield Mason. Music by Meret Becker.
I don’t think I’ve ever used the word ‘charming’ on this blog before, but that’s the word I would use to describe the animation. The world needs more of this sort of charm, I reckon (click on the link and it should take you to Vimeo):
Thank you Katherine for introducing me to the world of Su Blackwell. The sculptures are indeed beautiful and the video charming. I would love to see more of her work. It’s the sort of thing that’s right up my street. Thanks again x
