While we were away in the Lake District I received two emails bearing good news. The first email was from the Quest Institute telling me I had passed my Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma. Finally, my 6 weeks of round-the-clock googly-eyed working-my-arse-off on the computer paid off! Pheeew.
However my celebrations were overshadowed by the next piece of good news I received – WordPress informed me that an alien had looked at and commented on my blog.
When I say alien, I of course mean literary agent. A living, breathing (and hopefully sane) literary agent had stopped by my blog and taken the time to politely enquire whether I had considered sending my manuscripts to her agency.
No offence to literary agents out there but this is equivalent to an alien landing in my back garden and inviting me round for a cup of tea and a Jaffa Cake.
Jubilation Comparison:
Passing my HPD = one party popper going off.
Literary agent commenting on my blog = 10 tonnes of fireworks exploding in my brain.
However, before we get carried away here (no, those are not tears in my eyes, I happen to have been cutting lots of onions lately), I need to say a few things:
Does this signify an imminent publishing deal? The answer is, of course, a big fat squelchy NO. (Especially as the agent in question doesn’t appear to work with picture book authors.)
What it signifies, I hope, is that an agent stumbled across my blog and didn’t think it was utter drivel. That’s a good sign, right?
It also signifies that lovely, surprising, random things can happen…out of the blue…at any time…as long as you put your stuff out there.
I like that.
I sent the agency my manuscript last week. I’ll keep you posted.
